Engineering Scotland warmly invites you to the 2019 Road Ahead Lecture. This is the eleventh annual lecture in the series and we are privileged to welcome Ian Ritchie, CBE, one of Scotland’s foremost entrepreneurial Business Leaders to deliver this year’s Lecture on Monday 10th June, on the subject of Entrepreneurial Enterprise.

The Road Ahead Lecture is Engineering Scotland’s annual prestige event, kindly hosted once again by the University of Strathclyde. Registration and refreshments from 5.30pm for a prompt 6.15pm start. We will close at 8pm.

Ian Ritchie is a towering force in cutting edge IT within Scotland, having been involved in over 30 high-tech start-ups. He was the founding Chairman of several Scottish companies, including OWL - Office Workstations Ltd., - which pioneered hypertext application development (a forerunner to the world wide web), Voxar, VIS Entertainment, Orbital Software Group, and Digital Bridges. Ian was the Chairman of Iomart plc from 2008-2018 and has also been on the board of Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council, and Channel Four Television Corporation. He was a founding Director and Chairman of the Scottish Software Federation from 1988 to 1990, and served as President of the British Computer Society from 1998 to 1999.

In the New Year Honours 2003, Ian was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to enterprise and education. He also holds Honorary Doctorates from four Scottish universities.
