Roads to Refuge: An evening of discussion, music, film and spoken word
Sat 15 October 2016, 18:00 – 22:00 BST
London ELAB and the Roads to Refuge team would like to invite you to the launch of 'Roads To Refuge' - an ongoing campaign that aims to change the narrative around refugees and the current crisis away from dehumanisation and ridicule, and towards humanity, hope and optimism.
The refugee crisis is the worst humanitarian crisis since the end of the second world war, with thousands of people killed and many millions displaced. 'Roads To Refuge' is a campaign launched by the Emerging Leaders Advisory Board, the alumni board for UK-based leadership development charity UpRising, aiming to keep the crisis at the forefront of peoples' minds, and to offer the opportunity to broaden our understanding of the people and cultures that are represented in the struggle.
A chaired panel discussion will kick off the launch evening, the over-arching theme being: "Effective Courses of Action at the Grassroots". Questions to be taken from the audience in advance.
The remainder of the evening will consist of film, live music and spoken word from a variety of artists. Photography will also be on display across the venue.
We will be raising money on the night towards our direct impact crowdfunding campaign and be running a silent auction of the photography that is on display.
Tickets are FREE and the event is open to everyone. Please encourage friends and family to come along to join in and support our cause.
We look forward to seeing you there!
