Event description

Description

During 2017, we had a fantastic start to our investigations into the archaeology and history of Thornton le Street and the surrounding area. Surveying, fieldwalking, archival research, training workshops, test-pitting and excavation have all started to allow us to piece together sections of Thornton le Street’s past.

Join us at Thornton le Street Village Hall on Saturday 10th February to find out about what we’ve been doing so far and the exciting events you can take part in in 2018.

Through the day, there will be a series of talks:

- 10.00-10.20 - Welcome and overview of a busy 2017! (Jim Brightman - Lead Project Archaeologist)

- 11.15-12.15 - Looking beneath the ground: Geophysical survey results from Old Hall Farm, followed by a Q&A with the geophysics team (Dr Hannah Brown - Magnitude Surveys)

- 13:00-13:30 - What's next? How to get involved in the 2018 activities (Jim Brightman - Lead Project Archaeologist)

Around the talks, there will be a great deal of information about the project on display, as well as experts on hand to answer questions about the archaeological remains and artefacts uncovered so far.

We have had a very busy 2017, but 2018 is going to be even bigger!
