Event description

Description

In this session, the children will be using Ozobots, tiny app-controlled robots, to code in a fun learning environment.

Ozoblockly will be used to programme the Ozobot. The children will be learning with lots of hands on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) activities through the sessions. They will be given multiple challenges to complete in teams through the sessions.

The participants will use code blocks to learn more advanced logic, whilst some of the more able children can be stretched to use text programming.

There will be 2-3 instructors teaching a class of 16 as our minimum pupil teacher ratio is 8:1. This allows the children lots of 1:1 learning opportunities.

The sessions will be run by Samia Razak (Mechanical Engineer with an MBA from University of Oxford) and Isabel Bonachera (MPhil. Physics, University of Cambridge, BS Engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA) and Naveed Ghaffar (MSc. Computer Science and LLB Law, University of Birmingham).

This event is a 1-hr trial session. The session will be the first of ongoing weekly sessions held on Sundays, from 2:30 to 3:30 at Imperial College. Parents will be given the opportunity to sign up for further sessions should they wish to do so.

All children over the age of 7 are welcome to register.

No prior coding experience necessary.
