The advancements in technological innovation and artificial intelligence have triggered a radical transformation of the labour market. A 2015 report published by the Bank of America predicted that up to 35% of the UK workforce was at risk of being displaced over the next 20 years.
This panel event, in association with CIPD, will evaluate the impact of the shift towards automated labour, and how the negative effects of erosion of job quality, security and pay can be minimised. Crucially, the role of the state, employers and individuals in ensuring that technology enhances rather than damages working lives will be analysed and explored.
