Rockpooling at Cove Bay Harbour
Overview
Rockpooling at Cove Bay Harbour
Join the Countryside Rangers and explore the amazing world of the rockpool. During the session, we will carefully search inside and around rockpools to discover which creatures call this ever-changing world home.
Our activities will focus on:
- Wildlife ID: we will search for and identify the creatures that live inside rockpools. There is potential to find find fish, crabs, sea stars, lobsters, sea slugs and many more fascinating animals.
- Ecology of rockpool animals: learn about the behaviours and quirks displayed by common rockpool creatures. How many eyes does the common sea star have and how does the rockpool prawn deal with lack of oxygen?
Additional information:
Please note: this event is suitable for adults and older children. From experience, we have found that very young children find it difficult to traverse the wet rocks. We therefore advise against bringing very young children for safety reasons.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the local biodiversity, meet like-minded people and discover the hidden world of the rockpool.
