RoLO Health & Safety Awareness

The RoLO health & safety awareness course allows operatives to gain the required level of competence to enter the Register of Land Based Operatives. For operatives requiring LISS / CSCS card, successful completion of the RoLO course is a pre-requisite for these cards. The course is comprised of a number of modular core subjects relevant to day to day work activities, highlighting areas of health & safety which can be used to deal with site safety issues arising in the work situation.

Objectives:

  • Increase operatives’ awareness of health & safety and environmental issues within the industry in which they work, outlining roles and responsibilities.

  • Provide the core knowledge required to achieve RoLO registration

  • Enable operatives to identify hazards and risks that they may be exposed to in the work place.

What will be covered?

  • Accident prevention

  • Health & Safety at Work legislation

  • Risk Assessment

  • Personal Protective Equipment

  • Worksite hazards and safe methods of work

  • Access

  • Health & welfare

  • PPE – personal protective equipment

  • Noise & vibration

  • Hazardous substances

  • Manual Handling

  • Work equipment and vehicle safety checks

  • High risk activities, such as working at height, excavations & confined spaces, working near water etc.

  • Environmental awareness

At the end of the course there will be a short test to see that operatives have reached the relevant level of understanding. It is largely multiple choice questions. In order to obtain a RoLO card, operatives must achieve the pass mark of 75%.

How long is the course?

1 day – 5 to 7 hours

Where is the course held?

Usually at our training centre in Arborfield. However, if suitable facilities are available then it may be possible to arrange at your place of work.

How many can attend?

A maximum of 12 trainees per instructor.
