Enjoy the breath-taking excitement one of ancient Rome’s most popular sports – chariot racing.
Our outdoor arena will be packed with plenty of horsepower and daring charioteers as they speed around the track in pursuit of laurel wreaths and trophies. Don’t miss this spectacular show of daredevil driving skills as we relive the glory days of the Roman colosseum, in the heart of Leeds this Jubilee bank holiday weekend.
If pre-booked tickets are sold out we do have walk-up tickets available at the museum on the day.
Adults £7.50 - ages 16+
Children £3.50 - ages 3 - 15

Wheelchair Users - we have a limited number of wheelchair spaces available for each show. Tickets £3.50, this includes a reserved wheelchair space plus one free companion seat.
Tickets include entry to the museum.
The chariot racing show last approximately 20-30 minutes. As well as chariot racing there will be an action-packed programme of live combat demonstrations and have-a-go activities.
Our daily programme will include the following live presentations:
- Arming the legionary
- Combat: Legionary vs Barbarian
- Battle stories
- Arming the cavalryman
- Combat: Murmillo vs Retiarius
- What have the Romans ever done for us?

Can I reserve a seat?
No – seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Will late arrivals be admitted to the arena?
For the safety of everyone in the arena late arrivals cannot be admitted. Please arrive in good time to take your seats (at least 30 minutes prior to the start time of the show).
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
To reduce contact at this time we prefer tickets to be displayed on mobile phones and tablets.
Is the seating area under cover?
No – the arena is outside and the seating area is not covered. Please dress appropriately.
What’s the refund policy?
The shows will take place whatever the weather. No refunds will be given. If we have to cancel shows due to operational issues we will automatically refund tickets for the affected shows within 10 working days – no need to contact us.
Visitors with access requirements
Some seats will be reserved for visitors with specific access requirements. Our staff will be available on the day to help so please make yourself known to them if you require assistance.
Is the arena suitable for wheelchair & mobility scooter users?
Yes, there is a designated viewing area for wheelchair and mobility scooter users.
Tickets £3.50, this includes a reserved wheelchair space plus one free companion seat.

The toilets in the arena are wheelchair accessible.
Can I bring my pram/pushchair into the arena?
Prams and pushchairs are not allowed in the arena but a secure buggy park will be provided.
