About this event

Arts • Orchestra

Join the Sampson Orchestra of Cambridge for an unforgettable evening of music that spans romance, wit, and wartime resilience.

The programme opens with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture-Fantasy, a sweeping and dramatic retelling of Shakespeare’s iconic tragedy. Next, pianist Catherine Chang takes the stage for Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 2—a dazzling, playful work that showcases both brilliance and charm. The concert concludes with Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, a bold and stirring masterpiece written in the final years of World War II.

We’re proud to partner with the Sampson Orchestra, who have generously donated a portion of tickets to benefit Cambridge Acorn Project. Every pound from these tickets will go directly to supporting our work with families across Cambridgeshire affected by trauma, poverty, and abuse.

Great music. A great cause. One powerful night.
