Following the success of the Roots to Work event in 2015 and 2016 we are back for 2017 with an exciting programme of speakers and workshops

This day of workshops, speakers and networking opportunities is for people interested in kick-starting or developing a food-growing enterprise or career. Whether you're setting up or running a school/community garden and want to learn more about selling to parents and the community, or you've just finished a horticulture training course and are ready to find paid work, there is something for you to dig in with at Roots to Work.

Tickets are £20 for Capital Growth members and £30 for the general public. Attendees will be asked to register their morning and afternoon workshop preference when purchasing a ticket. All tickets include tea, coffee and a vegetarian lunch.

  • How to get your urban farm started (based on the Urban Farming Toolkit). Sophie Verhagen, Head Grower Growing Communities Patchwork Farms
  • Advanced growing to sell: An in-depth look at key crops, with a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages they present. This workshop will also explore the topics of management, planning, productivity and value. Joris Gunawardena, Head Grower Sutton Community Farm

Lunch 1:00 - 2:30

  • Vegetarian lunch served
  • Pitch In / Pitch Off growing enterprise competition
  • Meet other growers and visit stalls from other projects

Zooming in on the Future 1:00 - 4:00
