Event description
Rory Steyn was the chief of security for Nelson Mandela throughout his presidency. He speaks engagingly about his experiences.

About this event

Growing up in an Afrikaner community in South Africa, Rory Steyn thought Nelson Mandela was the enemy. He joined the police in South Africa - notorious for the way they treated non-whites.

Yet he ended up being the chief of security for Nelson Mandela. He was one of the few to carry Mandela's coffin at his funeral. He also has remarkable first hand testimony of what it was like to hear Nelson Mandela speak with Her Majesty the Queen.

The event is hosted by St Michael and All Angels, Wilmington, in collaboration with St Peter's, Hextable and Christ Church Dartford.

The meeting will run from 7.30-9.00pm, including a short break in the middle. Refreshments will be served from 7.00 pm.

The event is FREE but there will be a voluntary opportunity to contribute to the costs of the evening at the end.
