Many gardens feature roses, but how should they be pruned and cared for?
About this event
Now is the time to stir yourself from Christmas excess and do something useful in the garden. This is an excellent time of year to take charge of unruly roses and prune them for best effect.
In this hands-on workshop we will look at tools to use, where to prune, how to prune and what ongoing care is needed. We will also look at pests and diseases, watering and feeding.
There will be a chance to do some practical work by pruning some roses at a nearby garden, if the weather allows. So come prepared to be outside in the cold for a while. Gloves and secateurs are useful, if you want to get stuck in!
What you will learn:
You’ll come away knowing about different pruning methods, how to train and tie in your rose plants, feeding, pests and diseases, and how to select the best rose cultivars. All this information will be also included in a free worksheet to take home.
