Event description

Description

Wind turbine rotor blade technicians have never been in higher demand, and not only does the job offer good rates of pay, it also offers you the opportunity to work outdoors in the UK, Europe and around the world.

Module 2 builds on the skills learnt in Module 1, and is essential for anyone wanting to qualify as a blade technician to work at heights. Graduates of the Altitec Academy receive a recognised qualification that enables them to hit the ground running and secure work on wind farms across the world.

In addition to the Academy course, Altitec offers onsite training and hires a number of Academy graduates each year.

What’s covered?

This 5-day course, expanding on the preliminary training course, teaches participants the fundamentals of rotor blade repair at height. Training in the use of the Actsafe Ascender ensures participants are familiar with the latest rope access methods for turbine inspection.

Completion of the course enables participants to carry out repairs at a basic level as a Blade Technician, opening the door to further on-site training or direct employment with leading global blade repair firms, including Altitec.

This course focuses more on the practical application of skills and ideas. Topics include:

  • Overview and practice of blade repair methods
  • Composite repair materials and tools
  • Understanding chemical curing processes
  • Adhesion and adhesive technologies
  • Health and safety regulations
  • Introduction to advanced repair methods
  • Actsafe Ascender end user training

Who’s it for?

Module 2 is recommended for, but not limited to:

  • Participants who have completed Turbine Blade Repair and Inspection Training (Module 1), at the Altitec Academy.
  • Those looking to work as a Rotor Blade Technician, for whom both Modules 1 & 2 are highly desirable when applying to work in the industry.
  • Those with previous rotor blade knowledge and certification, who would like a refresher course on repair and maintenance techniques.

Who’s teaching?

All sessions are delivered by our team of expert lead blade technicians and engineers. With a minimum of 5 years’ experience working in blade inspection and repair, both on- and offshore, in 10 different countries, they offer a wealth of experience and insight to participants.

What’s covered in the cost?

All course materials and certification are included, as are refreshments and lunch. However, participants will need to cover their own accommodation costs.

Altitec are happy to recommend options for accommodation.

The course cost includes Actsafe Ascender end user training.
