Round Willow Basket Workshop

Spend a lovely day creating a beautiful and useful willow basket to take home with full time basket maker from East Lothian, Jilly Greig.

Jilly will show you how to weave a round basket base with willow, then how to add the uprights and a simple waling weave to create the sides, before laying down a simple trac border. If you have made a few baskets before, you can make a fruit or bread basket with more advanced weaves and a rod border, and if you are a total beginner, you would start off with either an egg basket or a cute little berry basket with pegged handle.

Either way, you will take a beautiful basket home with you.

Bring a pack luch, teas, coffees and cake will be provided. Parking free in surrounding streets and in studio grounds. Only a few minutes from the bus stop, with buses running from Edinburgh around every 20 minutes.

Wear old clothes, and bring a large towel or old sheet to wrap your willow in while you work.
