Royal Central School of Speech and Drama Graduation Ceremony 2016
The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama 2016 Graduation Ceremony will take place at 2.00pm at the Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX.
ALL GRADUANDS MUST CONFIRM THEIR ATTENDANCE BY ORDERING A GRADUAND TICKET.
Graduands are seated alphabetically by award, then course name and then their surname at the front of the auditorium. This is the order that graduands process in.
We will allocate guest seats in order of receipt of ticket orders and successful payment – please therefore be advised that early bookings will be allocated seats closer to the stage. Further information about the order of ceremony and other events taking place on the day will be sent out closer to the ceremony date. The Royal Festival Hall is accessible for people with limited mobility and wheelchair users – further information is available on their website. We recommend that as per the RFH policy, children under 7 years of age are not brought to the Ceremony to avoid interruption.
Please indicate in the Special Requirements section of the booking process if you or any of your guests have mobility difficulties and what special arrangements may be needed. A number of wheelchairs can be accommodated in the auditorium but need to be notified in advance so that spaces can be reserved. If such requirements are not specified, we cannot guarantee that suitable seating is provided on the day.
Please note that award certificates for all graduands are sent out by the University of London directly to you and are not issued by the School or available at the ceremony. Information about this certificate production process is issued with your results letter.
Please note that 5th December 2016 is the absolute closing date for graduand bookings to be received by the School. If a graduand is in debt to the School when ticket sales close, their order will be cancelled and your attendance at the ceremony prohibited.
The venue will be open to graduands and their guests from 10.00am. The latest time that you should arrive at the venue is 12.00pm, to allow time for robing and photography, but earlier arrival is obviously recommended to avoid a rush, bearing in mind that all graduands will need to be seated in the auditorium by 1.00pm prompt for a briefing. The auditorium opens for guests at 2pm and all should be seated by 2.20pm for the start of the ceremony.
You will be required to wear an academic gown, hood and hat for the Ceremony. You must make your own arrangements for gown and hat hire through the academic outfitters Ede & Ravenscroft by visiting their Graduation Services website. You will see that they advise you to place your order at least 21 days before the Ceremony, i.e. before 21st November. Your order will then be available for collection on the day at the Royal Festival Hall.
Please ensure that you do make your booking as we will have to turn away anyone arriving at the ceremony without arrangements for a gown and hat. Please also note that when selecting your gown, you need to specify both University of London and Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, as well as your qualification (i.e. BA, MA, PGCE, etc). Gown, hood and hat designs
Information for photography services through Ede & Ravenscroft is also available and you are advised to make your arrangements as early as possible if you wish to pre-order photographs. Please note that you must pay for any photographs that you order. Visit the Graduation Services website to make your booking.
It will be possible to have your photographs taken from 10.30am on the day and all photographs must be completed before the ceremony starts.
A special ‘Class of ‘16’ t-shirt and hoodie are being produced by Campus Clothing, with the names of all 2016 graduates printed on the back. Information about the styles on offer, other memorabilia and the ordering arrangements are available on their website. These can be ordered in advance and collected on the day, or bought on the day, or they can be posted on to you afterwards.

The Ceremony will be projected on a large screen at the venue.
It will be possible for you and your guests to have lunch in the Royal Festival Hall, or alternatively there are a wide range of local cafes and restaurants nearby on the South Bank. Reservations can be made at some of these and others operate on a ‘walk in’ basis - further information and contact/booking details are given on the Southbank Centre website.
Please note that the Ceremony and any celebrations that follow will formally be over by 5.00pm, but the public areas of the Royal Festival Hall will remain open to guests.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable to another graduand?
No. Please do not transfer your tickets to a friend as we need to know which graduands are attending and which aren't. Please cancel your tickets if you or any of your guests are unable to attend.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Yes. Bringing your printed tickets will avoid any confusion over bookings but staff at the registration desks will be able to check your booking online if necessary.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds are offered via email request up until 5pm on Friday 9th December 2016. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Funds are refunded through Eventbrite and there is a delay.
Graduand tickets ordered in advance of confirmation of a final award may be cancelled and refunded in the event of failure to successfully complete or achieve an exit award.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the guest. Is that okay?
Yes. We have made it possible for friends and relatives to book tickets for graduands but ask that all orders are linked to a graduand by entering their name and course during the ordering process.
Can I book tickets before I clear outstanding debt with the School?
Yes. You can make a booking, but this will be cancelled if the debt is not cleared by 5th December 2016. Any guest tickets not linked to a graduand may not be refunded unless explicitly requested by 5th December 2016.
Can graduands process on stage without wearing a cap and gown?
No. It is a formal requirement of graduands to process in full academic dress. Graduands will be prevented from processing if they are in line but are not wearing their academic dress. Graduands who wish to attend the ceremony, but not hire from Ede & Ravenscroft, can sit with guests in the auditorium and should indicate this on their booking in the Special Requirements section.
