Event Information
Description
Royal Society Meeting: Dynamical Imaging of Functional Materials
It is proposed to establish a state of the art accelerator based facility for pump probe studies of the dynamics of materials on the timescale of chemical bond formation. This will be complementary to X Ray Free Electron Lasers and allow the study of structural evolution.
A collaboration with DESY is being explored to allow the UK to benefit from technology development such as the European XFEL.
This meeting aims to bring together potential facility users to discuss opportunities and begin to develop a case. The workshop will include a number of short presentations and a discussion session.
Speakers include :
Phil Withers, Chief Scientist, Henry Royce Institute
Jim Naismith, co-academic lead, Rosalind Franklin Institute.
Peter Littlewood, Faraday Institute
Dwayne Miller, division leader, Center for Free-Electron Laser (CFEL) at DESY,
Max Planck Institute for the Structure and Dynamics of Matter and The University of Toronto.
Meeting includes lunch. Travel costs not provided.
I look forward to discussing the opportunities at the meeting.
