About this event

Arts • Literary Arts

Join Anne King, author of Delights of the New Forest, for a walk through Roydon Woods. The route meanders along lanes and through woods and fields before heading down to cross the upper reaches of the Lymington River on a footbridge. Climbing uphill through woodland we return to explore the ancient church of St John the Baptist, Boldre. Roydon Woods are a haven for wildlife; from flowers to fungi, birds to badgers. Managed by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Trust there are public bridleways and permitted footpaths to explore at all times of the year. Walk and let your mind come to its senses both literally and mentally, an hour or two’s breather in a hectic week.

There will be opportunities to buy copies of the book and discuss Anne's inspiration and writing process.

Sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing is recommended: the walk will go ahead whatever the conditions unless it becomes unsafe. There are a couple of rough sections of path which can be muddy in wet conditions. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a lead and under control.
