RQG Conference 2026 - Exploring the Past, Embracing the Future

Join us at the Birmingham & Midland Institute, Birmingham (UK) for the RQG Conference 2026. We have a wide range of talks and presentations on genealogical and family history research. An ideal opportunity to connect with fellow enthusiasts, experts and researchers in the field. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Our conference is open to everyone including non-members.

Booking is required.

Keynote speakers:

  • Professor Rebecca Probert (University of Exeter) - Researching bigamy through family history records
  • Dr Sophie Kay (Khronicle®) - Ethics and You: a people-centred guide to genetic genealogy
  • Professor Julia Laite (Birkbeck, University of London) (awaiting title)

plus morning and afternoon sessions on a wide range of topics - DNA and genetics, AI tools for genealogy, family history projects and research.

Dietary and access requirements:

A light lunch and refreshments will be served, please state any special dietary or accessibility requirements on the booking form.

The venue is a grade-II historic building and our conference will be utilising rooms over 3 floors. There is a small personnel lift to all floors plus wheelchair stairlifts in some areas. Accessibility (disabled) is limited but the venue staff are happy to be of assistance. There is a sunken auditorium with disabled access limited to the outer section only. Please contact us in advance to discuss your specific needs.

All toilets are located on the lower-ground floor/basement.

Located not far from the city centre and walking distance of stations. Access into the Birmingham and Midland Institute building is via Margaret Street with 3 small steps, alternatively access can be granted upon request via Cornwall Street (one-way-street).
