How does sound move? And how can listening move us?
Join Listen Gallery’s Riah Naief for a workshop exploring how sound crosses borders - from one space to another, from one self to another. Through listening meditation and group discussions, we’ll consider how attending to sound can help us reach beyond ourselves and collectively build new ways of being, both within and outwith the art world.
Listen Gallery is a non-profit sound arts gallery and communal listening space based in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded by Riah Naief, the gallery creates spaces for collective listening through workshops, performances, exhibitions, screenings, and other sound-focused projects. Listen Gallery aims to make sound art accessible to everyone and to use listening as a way to connect, collaborate, reflect, and grow together. As an organisation led by Global Majority perspectives, love and hospitality are foundational to their practice. Their name LISTEN (Love Is Serving The Ears Now) reflects these values and informs every aspect of their work.
This event is part of the Race, Rights & Sovereignty ‘States of Matter’ strand. ‘States of Matter’ is a programme strand which considers interactions between art and statehood, asking how practitioners shift our present states of living. Race, Rights and Sovereignty is a programme supported by the GSA Students Association in partnership with GSA Exhibitions.
