About this Event

Fellows and guests resident in the Borders are invited to register, with an especial welcome to those working very specifically within agriculture, forestry and countryside organisations, and/or who sit on relevant boards such as SoSEP, RHASS etc. The purpose of this meeting, which inaugurates the 2019/2020 RSA Session in the Borders is several-fold. It includes the launch of a new Fellows' Network entitled R+EINS [RSA Fellows' Rural + Environmental Issues Network Scotland]. It will in due course propose events in other parts of Scotland: topics for consideration and complimentary event venues may be suggested to Network lead Ann Packard who will consider these with the virtual steering group now in place.

A more precise agenda will be issued to attendees nearer the time, likely inclusions being

(i) future R+EINS activities;

(ii) other Government and NDPB issues of relevance e.g. the forthcoming Environment Strategy

(iii) RSA's Food, Farming and Countryside Commission activities.

(iv) the Scottish Borders Strategic Woodland Creation Pilots. This project is led by Scottish Borders Council [SBC] working with Scottish Forestry, with support from the Southern Upland Partnership [SUP] and Borders Forest Trust [BFT]. It is anticipated that both Andy Tharme of SBC and Pip Tabor of SUP will speak about the project.

The meeting will run from 6pm to 7.30pm, preceded by tea and coffee at 5.30pm. The venue is fully accessible. Parking is in nearby streets and regular bus services stop immediately outside the Centre. In registering attendees are requested to detail any access and/or clinical dietary requirements. Photographs will be taken at the meeting: if exclusion is requested this should be intimated both in advance and on the day.

For health and safety reasons please register each attendee separately.
