Description

Learn from Vanguard sites and develop strategies for supporting social action to improve health

For NHS Trusts, Vanguard sites and other health and care providers

Building on the agenda set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View, Health as a Social Movement is a three year programme funded by NHS England. This seminar series is part of the RSA’s offer to support the spread of learning with six Vanguard sites – enabling local areas to develop approaches that could be scaled or adapted and adopted in other communities.

Aims:

  • Understand the health landscape, introducing Nesta’s report ‘The Power of People in Movements

  • Learn from key vanguard sites across England and from case studies over the UK and internationally with the New Economics Foundation

  • Develop practical strategies to bring forward this agenda with the RSA by spreading good practice and learning from national and international case studies

Key questions for participants:

  • How can you influence others to achieve your aims and utilise current movements in health in your area?

  • How can you learn from how behaviour and practices get spread and adopted through learning from successful health movements?

  • How can you focus on changing unhealthy norms in order to improve health in their area?

Enjoy a chance to network, share good practice and learning.

The day will be interactive and practical and speakers include representatives from leading vanguard sites, NHS England, behavioural economists and Nesta, Nef and the RSA. Lunch is provided.

If you attend this event, participants will be entitled to a discounted RSA Fellowship and CPD accreditation.

Who is it for? The event is aimed at senior managers responsible for service transformation and engagement. It is of particular relevance to all NHS Trusts and New Care Model vanguard sites, but is open and relevant to other health and care providers, including voluntary organisations. It is suitable for organisations that have strategic and established community engagement activities and for those developing activities.

About the Health as a Social Movement programme

Building on the agenda set out in the NHS Five Year Forward View, Health as a Social Movement is a new three year programme, with partners the RSA, the New Economics Foundation and Nesta to support social movements in health and care.

Working initially with six new care model vanguards across England, NHS England and partners will develop, test and spread effective ways of mobilising people in social movements that improve health and care outcomes and show a positive return on investment. This programme will also work with the wider vanguard network and beyond to support development and spread of social movements in health and care.
