SPARE TYRE presents
THE GARDEN
Experience The Garden, an immersive, interactive installation and performance created for people with dementia and their carers by participatory arts company Spare Tyre. Bringing the outdoors in, it takes you on a multisensory journey through the seasons, inspiring imagination and awakening the senses.
This one-off performance for the RSA Performing Arts Network, giving an opportunity to see Spare Tyre’s work in practice, and stimulating debate about how we engage communities such as people with dementia and carers with the arts.
During the performance, Spare Tyre artists create a safe space for communication using our non-verbal methods that stimulate the senses, creating a truly person-centred experience. The Garden is touring to care centres, community spaces and arts venues across London and beyond this autumn.
The structure of the evening will be as follows:
6.30pm Arrival with drinks, nibbles and an introduction to Spare Tyre and "The Garden" by Arti Prashar FRSA, Artistic Director & CEO of Spare Tyre.
7:15pm Performance of The Garden, followed by informal Q&A and discussion, led by Arti Prashar.
8:15pm Drinks and networking on the set of The Garden.
9:30pm Evening comes to a close.
Places are free but please book at the top of this page. Any questions, contact Jackie Elliman FRSA (RSA Trustee and Network Lead): jackie.elliman@rsa.org.uk

About Spare Tyre
Spare Tyre is one of the UK's leading participatory arts charities, with 39 years experience of producing bold and powerful theatre with voiceless communities. We use innovative performing and digital arts to challenge prejudice and transform lives, enabling unheard stories to be shared. We currently work with people aged 60+, adults with learning disabilities, economically disadvantaged communities, women who've experienced violence, and people with dementia and carers. We empower participants and artists to have ownership of the creative process enabling personal and political fulfilment and overall wellbeing. Equality, accessibility and diversity are at the heart of everything we do. We have been working with people with dementia since 2011.
