RSA Reinventing Work Network: Educating for a Teal Future
Tue 13 December 2016, 18:45 – 20:45 GMT
How can we open up education to prepare the next generation for a Teal future of work?
The Reinventing Work Network is about distributed leadership, a focus on purpose, and an invitation to wholeness at work. We are exploring the developing organisational forms that support these goals (called “Teal” by Fredrik Laloux in his book, Reinventing Organisations), learning about what’s being done, and inviting the practical adoption of these approaches by RSA Fellows, their organisations, and the RSA.
We are starting to explore the Fellows’ questions which came out of the September network event in the Great Room. At this event we will investigate the role education plays in preparing future cultural and behavioural change.
Some of the topics which have already been discussed in preparation for the meeting include:
Current examples of Teal-focused education in school, sports coaching, and higher education
How quickly ‘aware’ generations are trickling through
Should education itself be Teal? What is the cost-benefit (direct and indirect)?
Letting go of the need to have a top-down view of education
The apparent contradiction between an emerging model of education and social psychology theories about groups and role models
Please book your place to join in the discussions, by following the 'Register' link at the top of this page.

About this Network…
Inspired by Frederic Laloux’s book Reinventing Organisations, The Reinventing Work Network is about distributed leadership, a focus on purpose and an invitation to wholeness at work. They are exploring the developing organisational forms that support these goals (called “teal” by Laloux), learning about what’s being done, and inviting the practical adoption of these approaches by RSA Fellows, their organisations, and the RSA. You might have heard RSA talks by Laloux or by Jos de Blok, whose Dutch home-nursing group Buurtzorg is a standard-bearer for the movement. Buurtzorg is structured so that nurses organise themselves. They have no “managers”, and have cut costs to the health service by 40 per cent, while improving quality of care and employee satisfaction. The Reinventing Work network is a gathering-place for people who are leading their organisations towards “teal”, supporting change as consultants, or seeking to inspire change within their own organisations.
This network is continuously building on what we discover during our events. If it's your first time joining us, you might want to familiarise yourself with the work of Frederic Laloux (author of Reinventing Organizations) and his talk at the RSA in Jan 2015 "How to Become a Soulful Organisation”:
