Description

RSA Fellowship

Joint Event between RSA Fellows’ PSR (Scotland) & Edinburgh Networks

18:00 - 20:00 (with tea and coffee available from 17:45)
The Saltire Society

Speakers: Roger Halliday, Scottish Government, and Paul Bradshaw, ScotCen Research.

You are warmly invited to this event, which will be chaired by David Jarman, Joint Lead of the Edinburgh Network. Through presentations and discussion we will be debating the timing and importance of accurate data in policy development and scrutiny. In addition to this there will be an opportunity to discuss any projects or research in which RSA Fellows need assistance, pending an application to the Venture or Catalyst Funds.

This is a joint network event, held at the Saltire Society. Please note that access is through either of the pedestrian lanes opposite the Storytelling Centre.

Places are free and can be booked at the top of this page. Any questions, please email Ann Packard: ann.packard@council-rsa.org.uk

About our Speakers

Roger Halliday started as Chief Statistician, Scottish Government, in November 2011. Before that, he worked in the Department of Health in England as a policy analyst managing evidence for decision making across NHS issues. He qualified with a degree in statistics in 1993 from St. Andrews University and joined the Department of Social Security (as was) as an assistant statistician. He worked for spells at the Department of Health in England and in a number of statistical and policy making roles at the Scottish Government before leaving in 2005. His areas of expertise are around children, learning, skills and the economy, as well as in health.

Paul Bradshaw works on a wide range of studies involving quantitative and qualitative methods and across a number of policy areas. His principle role is associated with the management and development of Growing Up in Scotland, a large scale, longitudinal cohort study. Paul's interest and experience lies mainly in the areas of families, children and young people. However, drawing on his background in crime and justice research, he has also lead a number of mixed method evaluations in the criminal justice field each assessing the implementation of key reforms to justice procedures in Scotland.
