Join us for an afternoon exploring the interdisciplinary links between the Physical and Life Sciences with two RSC award winners. The RSC Jeremy Knowles and RSC Norman Heatley Awards recognise the importance of interdisciplinary research between Chemistry and the Life Sciences.

The programme for the day is as follows:

14.00: Prof Mark Howarth, Oxford University. Norman Heatley Award (2017) Winner.

Bacterial superglues, spontaneous amide bond formation, and nano-assemblies to tickle the immune system.

1500: Catherine Hubert, KCL Chemistry.

Nitric oxide synthase, a new tool for biocatalytic nitration.

1515: Jason Sengel, KCL Chemistry.

Probing antimicrobial peptide pore formation in droplet interface bilayers.

1530: Marc Mora Hortal, KCL Physics.

Forcing the reversibility of mechanochemical reactions.

1545: Michael Sanders, KCL Chemistry.

The role of lipid bilayer composition on the stability of an alpha- helical integral membrane protein.

1600: Prof Jeff W. Kelly, Scripps Research Institute. Jeremy Knowles Award (2016) Winner.
