This 2hr online training session is for foster carers with care experienced young people and is a 3 day training session. YOU MUST ATTEND ALL 3 DATES:
Topics covered in these sessions will include: Info on Brook and CIC Nurses, Foster Carer role, Why talk to to young people early, Where young people learn and sex and relationships, Healthy Relationships. Confidentiality, STI's, contraception, sex and the law, consent, values and good practice, Introduction to sexual health, C-Card & chlamydia screening, STI's, HIV, CSE, sexuality and gender.
This training is open to foster carers in Cornwall only.
Aim
Foster Carers are better equipped to empower young people in their care to make informed choices about their sexual health, relationships and well-being
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the training participants will be able to;
• Background to why we need to talk to young people, and specifically looked after children, about sexual health.
• Explore scenarios and statistics related to young people in care
• Develop your skills to support young people to achieve safe, healthy, happy relationships and sex
• Introduce topics such as sexually transmitted infections, contraception, keeping young people safe, sexuality and gender.
• Understand your own values in relation to sexual health
• Discuss consent, explain confidentiality and the law
This training course is FREE to foster carers working with young people in Cornwall. Priority will be given to professionals working in these areas.
Attendance at this training is free of charge.
