Event description

Description

In April 2011 Sarah Outen set off from London's Tower Bridge on her London2London:Via the World journey. Her goal was to loop the northern hemisphere by rowing boat, bike and kayak over 2.5 years, sharing the journey with schools as she journeyed. 4.5 years later, Sarah paddled back under Tower Bridge having had a journey quite different to the one she had imagined. Mostly she was solo, except on the kayaking legs where she was joined by renowned paddler Justine Curgenven. From the young Chinese guy who joined her on a whim through the Gobi desert, to a mid ocean rescue after a tropical storm, to the remote Alaskan communities in the Aleutians - Sarah's journey was of contrasts and change.

Just home from a five-year 25,000 mile journey looping the planet by pedal and paddle, cycling across Europe, Asia, and North America, rowing and kayaking across the North Pacific and most of the North Atlantic, Sarah Outen is an incredible adventurer and an inspiration. She’s met with devastating catastrophe (losing her rowing boat Gulliver after a tropical storm in the Pacific and Happy Socks before a hurricane hit her on the Atlantic), motivated people she met to do amazing things, and encountered unbelievable beauty in the natural world. This is the story of her adventure and inner journey, and also a call to action, to redefine your own boundaries, to be courageous, and to dare to do.
