Running and Overnight Wild Camping - Mountain Marathon Training
Sat, 29 Apr 2017, 11:00 – Sun, 30 Apr 2017, 14:00 BST
Whatever multi-day running exploration or event you have in mind, the mountains and moorlands of South Snowdonia offer the perfect environment to learn and practice the skills and improve your confidence.
Mountain Marathons offer competitors the chance to test their skills in a competition, and this course is ideal for those aspiring to have a go for the first time.
This course will offer you the opportunity to run through every aspect of what is required for a successful and safe overnight running trip in a mountain environment. During the course, we will look at navigation and route selection, equipment, camp craft, nutrition and decision making on the hill. It will be a practical course and will offer the opportunity to test any new equipment, with the overnight being spent wild, and self-sufficient on the hill. As with all no-mad courses, we always seek to minimise our impact on the environment and will guide participants in how to do the same.
Who is it for?
Adventurous runners who are looking to do their first mountain marathon or explore overnight. We will be moving over rough terrain and looking to cover about 30km over the two days. This course will help people build on a basic level of navigation skills and brush up on camping skills.
