About this Event

When large parts of Europe went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Europeana events team and the Europeana Network Association’s specialist communities had to start to work very differently. Big physical events went digital. Face-to-face discussions became screen-to-screen. The focus of conversations changed. The need to connect to other people was more important than ever.

The Europeana Network Association communities developed their own webinars. For example, Europeana Communicators’ series of four ‘Culture From Home’ webinars looked at how cultural institutions were turning online to connect with their audiences. And Europeana Copyright is running webinars on ‘Copyright and OpenGLAM’. While the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum - usually a two-day in-person event - went entirely virtual this year.

In this webinar, we talk to some of the people behind the online events that Europeana and the ENA communities have led in the past few months. We also share the first version of our guide to running virtual events, based on our experiences - everyone registering will receive a copy after the event and we’d love to get your feedback on it.

What will we talk about? You decide!

On registration, you’ll see a list of potential topics for our panel to discuss. Please choose the three you’re most interested in. Our moderator, Susan Hazan, co-chair of Europeana Communicators, will put them to the panel.

Then, share your experience!

After the panel discussion, we’ll be putting some questions to the audience about your experience of online events and what we can do to help you participate in our events, or run your own. We’ll be using Mentimeter to ask questions - please make sure you have access to another device (mobile phones and tablets work well) or browser tab so you can submit your responses!

Finally - connect with each other

Then stay online for our special ‘Tana Libera Tutti’ session, in which the floor is opened to all participants - take the opportunity to discuss your activities and challenges with colleagues from all across Europe.
