About this Event

When large parts of Europe went into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Europeana events team and the Europeana Network Association’s specialist communities had to start to work very differently. Big physical events went digital. Face-to-face discussions became screen-to-screen. The focus of conversations changed. The need to connect to other people was more important than ever.

The Europeana Network Association communities developed their own webinars. For example, Europeana Communicators’ series of four ‘Culture From Home’ webinars looked at how cultural institutions were turning online to connect with their audiences. And Europeana Copyright is running webinars on ‘Copyright and OpenGLAM’. While the Europeana Aggregators’ Forum - usually a two-day in-person event - went entirely virtual this year.

In this webinar, we talk to some of the people behind the online events that Europeana and the ENA communities have led in the past few months. We also share the first version of our guide to running virtual events, based on our experiences - everyone registering will receive a copy after the event and we’d love to get your feedback on it.

What will we talk about? You decide!

On registration, you’ll see a list of potential topics for our panel to discuss. Please choose the three you’re most interested in. Our moderator, Susan Hazan, co-chair of Europeana Communicators, will put them to the panel.

Then, share your experience!

After the panel discussion, we’ll be putting some questions to the audience about your experience of online events and what we can do to help you participate in our events, or run your own. We’ll be using Mentimeter to ask questions - please make sure you have access to another device (mobile phones and tablets work well) or browser tab so you can submit your responses!

Finally - connect with each other

Then stay online for our special ‘Tana Libera Tutti’ session, in which the floor is opened to all participants - take the opportunity to discuss your activities and challenges with colleagues from all across Europe.

Speakers:

  • Gina van der Linden, Europeana Foundation’s Event Manager
  • Beth Daley, Manager of Europeana Communicators, and Europeana Foundation’s Editorial Adviser
  • Sebastiaan ter Burg, Europeana Foundation’s Knowledge Development Specialist
  • Ariadna Matas, Manager of Europeana Copyright community and Europeana Foundation’s Junior Policy Advisor

The formal webinar will be recorded and made available online. The ‘Tana Libera Tutti’ is exclusive to participants on the day - it will not be recorded or shared.

You will receive an email containing details about how to join the webinar when you register for this event.

This webinar is brought to you by Europeana Communicators - a specialist community of the Europeana Network Association - in collaboration with the Europeana Foundation. Find out more and join this Europeana Network Association Community.

Please note: Europeana is beginning to monitor attendance at our events to try to make sure that we are reaching as wide and diverse a section of the community working with or interested in digital cultural heritage as we possibly can. We ask you a series of questions relating to your age, gender identification and whether you have a visible or invisible disability. The disclosure of this information is completely voluntary. All responses will be treated in the strictest confidence, and all data disclosed will comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and Europeana’s privacy policy. You can also read the Europeana Network Association Code of Conduct. We will anonymise your data and only use, analyse and report on anonymised data. Where a respondent voluntarily provides personal information, this data will be used only for the purposes for which it is provided, and not passed to any third party, unless obliged to disclose such information by a rule of law.
