This sesson will help you to be confident that your board or management committee is following charity legislation

About this Event

This online session is for you if you want to be completely confident that your board or management committee is following charity legislation and rules, as well as following the rules of your own organisation. Do you feel entirely clear about your individual and collective responsibilities, and what might happen if things go wrong

It covers the essential elements of the roles and responsibilities of charity trustees, and community group management committee members.

Aimed at new management committee members and trustees, or those in need of a refresher.  This session is also open to staff members who support the work of their committee or board. This session covers:

  • The legal responsibilities committee members and trustees have in governing, managing and running an organisation, and;

  • Good governance practice and how committee members and trustees can reduce risks of governing an organisation.

We'll also be covering some of the key issues in governance issues in the current situation with COVID-19

Delivery method

This online session will be delivered remotely using Zoom.  We have taken every step to make this as simple, accessible and secure as possible. We will be able to advise on how to access the session easily and without having to download software.  Zoom can be accessed by a smartphone, or any device with a camera and microphone such as a laptop, tablet or desktop computer.

For security and practical reasons:

You can only book one place for yourself, using the email address you use on the device you'll be using to participate in the online session. If a colleague wants to attend, they will need to book separately themselves.

You must give us all the essential information requested so that we know your registration is genuine. We may check with you, especially if you aren't from an organisation known to us

Joining instructions including the secure password, together with any handouts or worksheets, will be emailed to you 24 hours ahead of the session start time by the named person hosting the session. It is essential you do not share this with anyone not registered to attend. Anyone not on the registration list will not be allowed into the session.

This event is free to voluntary and community organisations operating in Newcastle and Gateshead. There are a limited number of spaces at our free training events and they are in high demand.
