About this event

Arts • Orchestra

Described as a 'pianist and musician of the highest calibre' (New York Concert Review), Rupert Egerton-Smith is increasingly in demand as a recitalist and concerto soloist. He has performed in many prestigious venues including Paris' Salle Gaveau, the Berlin Philharmonie, London's Cadogan's Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York where he recently received a standing ovation for his performance of Stravinsky's The Firebird. In 2024, he was guest soloist for a performance of Rhapsody in Blue with the Band and Bugles of the Grenadier Guards for HRH The Queen in Salisbury Cathedral. Artist-in-Residence with the Orchestra of St.John's since 2022, he was appointed a Steinway Artist in 2025.

Passionate about innovative and themed programming in his solo work, Rupert creates a unique musical experience for audiences through narrated performance, describing and contextualising pieces as well as performing them. The recital will include music by Scarlatti, Ramsay, Chopin, Debussy, Gershwin, Kapustin, and Rachmaninov.
