The Centre for Health Promotion Research are partnering with the School of Art's Inside/Out Lecture Series to bring a screening of Rupture to Leeds Beckett University on Tuesday 2 December 2025 (18:00-20:00) in the Leeds School of Arts Building.

Rupture is a film created by the Open Clasp Theatre Company who use participatory theatre to ignite activism, placing theatre at the heart of personal, social and political change. The film was co-created with women from HMP Low Newton and draws on their real-life experiences of motherhood in prison. With an estimated 60% of women in prison being mothers, Rupture shines a light on the challenges they face and highlights the urgent need to recognise and uphold their rights.

Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with the Artistic Director from Open Clasp and the academic from Durham University who collaborated in the participatory project.

The INSIDE/OUT public programme of lectures invites speakers whose breadth of work, practice, thought and collaboration we feel will inspire all our students and colleagues across the wide range of disciplines in the Leeds School of Arts and the University as whole.
