About this event

Observation and memory – a drawing workshop with artist Sharyn Wortman

Join artist Sharyn Wortman, our invitational artist in residence, to hear about her

recent Arctic adventures followed by a drawing session onsite in Hampton Park.

Sharyn’s art practice is rooted to place, she loves to work on location, reacting to

found situations and materials. She believes that working onsite informs her mark

making and ultimately adds a different energy to her work.

You’ll have a chance to see first-hand the drawings she made with the help of glacial

ice and arctic mud this summer in the Arctic Circle, inspect her sketchbooks, the tool

box she took with her and how she saw polar bears and goofy walruses.

Bring a sketchbook, your favourite drawing materials and suitable clothing for all

weather. The session will start and end at Rupture, in-between we’ll take our

materials for a walk and finish with a short discussion about what we made together.
