Event description

Description

Details:

A wooden hay rake is an iconic rural tool and perfect accompaniment to the scythe when managing wildflower meadows.
On this workshop you will learn to split and shape the components for lightness and strength using an axe, drawknife and some specialised tools to make a balanced and ergonomic rake.

No previous experience necessary.

Tutor Steve Tomlin has made a name for himself in the scything and greenwood world. This is a rare chance to learn a time honoured skill and help keep these beautiful tools from disappearing.

Materials:

£10 should be brought to the course and paid to the trainer on the day.

There are no charges for courses if you are unemployed or in full time education, (proof required*). If there is charge for materials you will be expected to pay this and cash should paid to the trainer on the day.
