Family & Education • Education

As more schools and settings welcome our youngest children, it’s essential to ensure that the curriculum they offer is developmentally appropriate and responsive to the unique needs of babies and toddlers.

In this insightful and practical session, Ruth Swailes draws on her experience as co-author of the Joyous Journeys curriculum (with Dr Aaron Bradbury) and lead writer of the Oxford International Early Years Curriculum to explore:

✅ What a meaningful curriculum looks like for children under 2
✅ How to meet the developmental needs of babies and toddlers
✅ The importance of relationships, routines, and environments
✅ Practical strategies for building your own bespoke curriculum

Ruth Is the lead developer, author and trainer for the Oxford University Press International Early Years Curriculum for children aged 2-6. She is the co - author of "Joyous Journeys" a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children aged 0-6. She was named Nursery World Trainer of the Year in 2021 and recognised by ISC research as a leading influencer in International Education in 2022. She has written several books about Early Education and is currently co-editing the 4th edition of "Perspectives on Play".
