Event description
Rutland Lions Fireworks & Funfair; a fresh & refurbished firework event.

About this Event

As the summer nights draw in, the thoughts and plans of Rutland Lions increasingly focus on their Annual Firework Display. This event has been a regular in the Oakham calendar for over 40 years, and as usual will be held at the New Showground venue on Saturday 2nd November.

2019 will see a more family focussed evening including a fun fair and an earlier start to suit familes with younger children. The gates will open from 4.30pm allowing time to eat, drink and have fun before two beautifully choreographed displays, the first at 6.15pm and the second at 7pm. There will be the usual light novelties, but this year they will be brighter and bigger than Hans Solo’s light sabres of previous years.

The displays will again be delivered by 1st Galaxy Fireworks, a professional firework company from Newark. The first display will be designed with smaller children in mind, and the second display more suited to the whole family, with all the big bangs, and bright sky fireworks you would expect, and choreographed to some stirring music as well. This year will see a mobile catering service, providing amongst other delights, fine burgers and hot-dogs; the rugby club’s licenced bar will be open for business.

The price of entry on the night will be £6 for everyone over five years of age, however a significant saving can still be made by purchasing tickets in advance, priced £4.50. Further savings can be made by purchasing Family Tickets, £16 for a family of four, and £20 for a family of five, but only if purchased in advance. Advance tickets can be purchased from The Wisteria Hotel and Hambleton Foods in Oakham, and Uppingham Sports & Books in Uppingham.

Once again we would also like to thank the Rutland Agricultural Society and Oakham Rugby Club who continue to support our major fundraising event of the year, so come along and have a great evening’s family entertainment.

Gates open at 4.30pm, with the first display starting at 6.15pm; car parking at the Showground will be available ONLY for disabled persons displaying a blue badge, with general car parking available at Mecc Alte and Lands End car parks on Lands End Way. We would also like to remind guests that no dogs are allowed on the Showground, and nor should anyone bring sparklers with them.
