Event description

Description

One Day RYA First Aid Course

Suitable for everyone but particularly those who get afloat on boats whether as leisure boaters, commercial skippers or as Watersports Instructors. The course covers a range of issues you may encounter out on a boat and is taught by an experienced First Aid Instructor who also spends time afloat so understands the issues faced with limited space.

If you require further information on the course before booking please contact us. Further information about the Instructor is given below. Please note this course does run subject to minimum numbers booking. Should we fail to reach those numbers you would be refunded in full in advance of the course. If you have a group of 4 or more people we can put on a bespoke course for you on a date to suit you. Please contact us to discuss.

Instructor Tim started his First Aid career in the R.N.L.I as a Beach Lifeguard in 2002. The following season he qualified as Surf Life Saving Association Trainer/ Assessor for the National Beach Lifeguard Qualification (NBLQ). He continued to teach Beach Lifeguarding (whilst remaining operational) for a further 6 years, moving to Cornwall in 2006 where he became Senior Instructor at what was then called the 'National Beach Lifeguard Training Centre' based on Lusty Glaze Beach. During his time there he updated the Royal Life Saving Society's NBLQ Qualification. By the end of 2009 he had taught over 400 Lifeguards.

During his 3 seasons at Lusty Glaze he expanded his course delivery to Trauma Management, Airway Management, Medical Gases, Spinal Management, Fracture Management, Emergency Medical Technician (Basic) and wrote and delivered the first 'Aquatic Rescue' module for FdSc Surf Science for Cornwall College. He now continues to deliver First Aid at Work and RYA First Aid to a small group of clients and runs a company that has supplied event medics for the past 9 years. Recently he has been named as 'Safety Advisor' for the Maritime Volunteer Service (Poole Unit). Tim's style is fun and relaxed with the focus on retention of knowledge and engagement throughout the course.

NB. We close bookings online 5 days before the event - we still take booking closer but please contact us direct. Whenever you book you should receive confirmation within 24 hrs with joining information - if this is not received (not been known yet!) please contact us ASAP!
