About this event

Join us for an insightful webinar with Dr Stephen McCord (University of Michigan), first author of Developing a Triple Helix Approach for CO₂ Utilisation. The session presents a novel framework that integrates social impact assessment (SIA) and social life cycle assessment (S-LCA) thinking into conventional LCA and techno-economic assessment (TEA), enabling more holistic evaluations of CDU technologies. Addressing a major gap in current practice, the paper proposes a screening-level method (based on UNEP/SETAC S-LCA guidelines) to identify social hotspots such as forced labour risks or community-level impacts early in the design process. This approach supports more rigorous evaluation of trade-offs across environmental, economic and social dimensions, offering practical value for those working in: integrated LCA and S-LCA, emerging technologies or carbon management.
