Description

We will begin by exploring the colours, materials and symbols of ancient Egyptian art - this will take the form of two talks led by Dr Joanne Backhouse:

10:00 - 11:00 Sacred Stones: Reading the Rainbow. The use of colours, crystals, glass and semi-precious stones in ancient Egypt

11:20 - 12:30 Divine Inspiration. The use of symbols: jewellery and amulets

We will spend the afternoon creating glass mosaics inspired by the images we have seen throughout the morning - each participant will make one mosaic wall plaque

1:30 - 5:00 Designing and making the mosaics, selecting appropriate colours and materials, learning traditional mosaic techniques. This workshop will be led by Aleta Doran.

Lunch is not provided - we recommend Oak St. Cafe Bar
