About this Event

This session is designed to help with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).

Do you find your mood feeling lower of heavier during the winter months? Find that you are less productive? Have less energy? Feel a greater pull towards feeling tired, shattered more of the time? Drawn towards wanting to cosy underneath the duvet, cuddle under a blanket or in front of the fire?

It could be that you are experiencing symptoms relating to SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder.

As sunlight decreases during the short dark days of winter, Winter depression (seasonal affective disorder or SAD) is thought to affect up to one in 15 Brits every year between September and April. And a further 90% of people admitting that they experience a lower sense of mood in the winter months and struggle with symptoms associated with seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Having the capacity to impact upon your energy levels, feelings of sluggishness, and tiredness, as well as having the capacity to interfere with your day-to-day life.

This information session is designed to help you gain a greater understanding of SAD, and offer insight into self-care strategies to alleviate symptoms and ways of looking after you during the winter months.

The session will be led by Jeannette Jackson Director of the Manchester Stress Institute - Nutritional biochemist and sports scientist specialising in stress resilience, performance nutrition, mental health and menopause at work.
