Safe and Effective Staffing in Health and Social Care - Edinburgh
Mon 15 May 2017, 10:30 – 12:30 BST
The link between safe and sustainable staffing levels and high quality care is well established. It is vital to have the right number of staff in place, with the right skills. Taking a rigorous, evidence based approach to workload and workforce planning is important to ensure safe and effective staffing that reflects patients’ care needs and promotes a safe environment for service users and staff.
Scotland has led the UK in the development and implementation of a ground-breaking evidence based approach to Nursing & Midwifery Workload & Workforce Planning. We intend to build on our record to date but to go further – that’s why we have committed to enshrine safe staffing in law and to place our nursing and midwifery workload and workforce planning tools on a statutory footing.
The consultation sets out our proposals on how this could happen and we are keen to hear views, from practitioners and the public, that will go into shaping the final bill. During this event we will present the consultation, the proposals and allow you to respond to the consultation questions. It will also give you a chance to ask for more details on any of the proposals.
