Safe and Social-Support group for families and carers of exploited children

We want people to have a chance to talk with others who understand how it feels when their child is not at home, and they are worried they are being exploited. For some they may be in a gang, and for others they may not know what is happening to their child.

At the charity Missing People we work with lots of people who say that they want 'guidance and comfort' from others.

This social group is for those affected by Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE)and has also been referred to county lines as well to come and be together, facilitated by staff to say as little or as much as they want.

They describe the experience of having an exploited child as ' frightening and worrying' and that they feel 'helpless'

The Safe and Social group has been up and running successfully since October 2020 for people to come and be together, facilitated by staff and people can say as little or as much as they want.

Since running this space almost 1 year on families have described the Social Space experience as being “Just knowing us parents are there for each other”, “Knowing that I am not alone”, “Hearing that there are services to support people going through this experience”, “Sharing and connecting with the hosts and parents/ carers”.

The meetings will be on Zoom and people can choose to speak, to listen, to be anonymous. No pressure.
