This online training has been designed by the Peace Museum to explore the dangers posed by online grooming and radicalisation.
The session will:
- Build awareness around strategies used by perpetrators
- Raise understanding of techniques used to radicalise young people
- Reduce vulnerability to manipulative content
- Recognise the signs of someone who may be succumbing to grooming
- Give practical guidance on what to do if presented by malicious content
- Signpost further support for those who may need it
Using real life case studies, the session will explore how seemingly innocent online relationships can be a cover for more sinister motives through a range of media including Facebook, online gaming, texting and dating apps.
Delivered online via Zoom by an experienced facilitator, the session lasts 60 mins.
Safe Online has been developed in partnership with the Calderdale Prevent Team.
The Peace Museum has delivered Prevent work to thousands of young people, supporting schools, families and communities to work together to protect young people from harm.
Their innovative Choices project has been identified as a model of Best Practice by the Prevent team at the Home Office and is now being rolled out across the UK.
