Event description

Description

We believe in making learning and development accessible, so that the learning is not only informed by practice, but embedded into practice.

All our courses are designed to encourage delegates to reflect on and develop their knowledge and skills, through discussion, the use of case studies, current research, and best practice examples.

This programme aims to support the development of competent and confident practice in Adult Safeguarding for front line workers, whether in a paid or voluntary position.

By the end of the session participants will have had the opportunity to consider:

  • What is meant by Adult Safeguarding, as described in The Care Act 2014 and Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly multi-agency policy.

  • What is meant by abuse and neglect, including self-neglect.

  • The importance of keeping the person at the centre of their safeguarding, including the role of an independent Advocacy.

  • The key legislation that supports and underpins best practice in relation to Adult Safeguarding.

  • Factors that increase or decrease a person’s risk of experiencing abuse and neglect.

  • The 6 key principles of safeguarding and how practice should support these.

  • Their role in the prevention of abuse and neglect and the protection of adults at risk, including making a safeguarding adults referral.

This programme supports Level 2 knowledge as outlined in the Safeguarding Adults: Roles and competences for health care staff – Intercollegiate document NHS England 2016 (4)

Audience:

This session is appropriate for all paid and voluntary staff working in health, social care, housing, and other related settings, and who have direct contact with people who may have health and social care needs.

Pre-requisites:

It is expected that all delegates will be familiar with their organisational Adult Safeguarding policy and procedures before attending the session.

Payment:

Preferred payment is direct through Eventbrite.

Whilst we are happy to accept payment via invoice, if you expect a third party to pay the invoice on your behalf (e.g. your organisation), you must have followed your organisational process for accessing training and have their agreement (including where appropriate a Purchase order) before continuing.

If you have not secured such an agreement before attending the session, you will remain personally responsible for payment of the invoice.

Cancellation policy:

We currently have a 7-day cancellation policy, in recognition of the timeliness of advertising the courses in November and December; however, from January 2018 a 30-day cancellation policy will be in place for all dates. Once a place has been booked, any cancellation with less than 30 days’ notice will not be entitled to a refund. Cancellations with more than 30 days’ notice will be given a refund, minus the booking fee.

Please note that in order to be viable, all courses need to have a minimum of 10 delegates. If numbers are less than this 14 days prior to the course date, the course will be cancelled.

In all cases where the organiser cancels a course, a full refund will be given, where applicable.
