Event description

Description

Course Outline: Safeguarding is a mandatory course for all new and existing members of The Scout Association.

The issues facing adult volunteers in keeping young people safe are changing all the time and it is essential that we provide up-to-date training. This course will look at recognising the signs and symptoms of abuse, how to report an incident / concern / worry / gut feeling that you have about a young person, and good practice solutions that adults in Scouting will encounter with young people in their sections.

It is a requirement for all adults in Scouting to have undertaken 'approved safeguarding training' at least every five years and this is monitored at the point of appointment review. If you have not completed a face to face safeguarding training course in this time frame, or feel you need a refresher, or would just like to find out more about how to keep young people safe, within Scouting, then this is the course for you.

All training is carried out by Safeguarding Awareness Co-ordinators or trainers who have attended a UKHQ-approved weekend training course.
