By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Gain confidence in handling concerns and disclosures
  • Explain your Safeguarding and Child Protection responsibilities
  • Know how to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Discuss the specific challenges when working outdoors
  • Gain knowledge about the legal background to Safeguarding Children

A perfect chance to discuss with peers particular issues in keeping children safe when working outdoors and in 'risky' environments.

All attendees will receive a Certificate that ensures compliance with your organisations Safeguarding Policy.

Course is delivered via Zoom and lasts 3 hrs

Is this course right for me?

Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 states that "It is essential that everybody working in a school or college understands their safeguarding responsibilities." This includes non formal education settings whether OFSTED registered or not.

Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018 states that "Everyone who comes into contact with children and families has a role to play in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children"

If you work or volunteer with under 18's then you need to attend this course. Suitable for complete beginners or those who require their annual refresher training.

This is an introductory (Level1) course and you will receive a certificate so that you can ensure you meet your organisations safeguarding policy requirements.

Session delivered by Mel Parr.

Mel has been delivering Safeguarding and Child Protection training for over 18 years, working in children's and youth settings in both statutory and voluntary sectors. With a wealth of up to date knowledge and experience as DSL in many settings.

Mel now runs Lymley Wood CIC, set in an ancient woodland in East Sussex and delivers Forest School, HAF holiday clubs,   school residential and day trips for all ages. As well as specialism in working with SEND children, Mel understands what needs to happen to keep children and young people safe in outdoor environments.

Current clients include: London Youth, Kidscape, London Learning Consortium, East Sussex Council Council, Brighton Community Works.
