Safeguarding children for Designated Safeguarding Leads and Deputies
Strong, effective leadership in ‘children centred services’ is the key driver in improving the quality of safeguarding practices. In this workshop, learners will be encouraged to explore their own management and leadership style and analyse the part they play in creating a safeguarding culture that prioritises children’s wellbeing.
Safe recruitment and selection processes are essential if settings, organisations and institutions are to attract the best staff and deter and reject those who may pose a risk to children or who are unsuitable to work with them. This course promotes safer recruitment practice and challenges poor and unsafe processes. Participants will have opportunities to examine how to continually assess the ‘suitability’ of their workforce, explore the part ‘ supervision’ plays in creating safer environments and learn how to implement safeguarding audits to evidence performance and identify gaps.
* Have developed a structure for effective supervision and tools for managing the work, including the use of supervision agreements
* Examines the need for on-going awareness and vigilance and how organisations can develop and maintain an environment that deters and prevents abuse and challenges inappropriate behaviour
* Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people
* Begin to review their own and their organisations’ policies and practices in recruitment with a view to making them safer
All safeguarding children training courses are interactive and use a variety of training methods eg case studies, dvds, small and large group discussions and exercises to enhance the participants learning experience.

i) Cancellations made up to 7 days prior to the training course (14 days for Safeguarding training) will be refunded 90% of the original cost of the booking. The remaining 10% will be kept by Croydon Voluntary Action as an administration fee.
ii) Cancellations made within 7 days of the training course (14 days for Safeguarding training) will not be refunded.
iii) If a training course is cancelled by Croydon Voluntary Action, for any reason, a 100% refund will be given to all trainees.
iv) Any offers or deals on Croydon Voluntary Action training courses are subject to change or expiration. In some cases, notice of this will be given but not in all cases. Any changes or updates to terms or conditions will not affect the terms and conditions under which you made your purchase.
v) Any changes made to these terms and conditions may be made without prior notice and at the discretion of Croydon Voluntary Action.
