Description

This 2 day course is an advanced course for those who work in education settings in Wales and have designated safeguarding responsibility.

Date: 2 dates available

12th & 13th September 2017

24th & 25th October 2017

Aims

The role and main responsibilities of the designated safeguarding person
• Understanding how values and attitudes affect our responses to safeguarding
• Identify the barriers that prevent adults from reporting or sharing concerns
• Identify the barriers that prevent children from reporting abuse
• Up to date key legislation and guidance in Wales
• Implementing policy, procedures and practice in line with legislative and inspection frameworks
• Responding effectively to a child who discloses abuse
• Effective decisions making in relation to concerns about a child
• Understanding the multi-agency child protection process and referrals
• A clear understanding of confidentiality
• Best practice in recording and sharing information, including confidentiality
• Developing a supportive ethos which demonstrates an awareness of the emotional impact of safeguarding children
