Foundation Safeguarding Training – FAQs

What is it?
The Foundation Module (“Creating Safer Space”) is the Methodist Church’s introductory safeguarding training. It helps everyone understand their role in creating safe environments, recognising concerns, and responding appropriately.

Who needs it?
Anyone working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults, plus many church officers and volunteers.

How often?
Every four years. If you complete the Advanced Module, you don’t need to redo Foundation separately.

Format
Available online or face-to-face, depending on local provision. Certificates are issued on completion.

Recognition
Church of England safeguarding training is accepted as equivalent. Other external training is not normally recognised.
