Be aware of key guidance relating to safeguarding children
Understand what is abuse, categories of abuse and the impact of abuse on children and families
Understand your role within early help and multi-agency working
Know what you need to do if a child makes a disclosure, what steps to take and the importance of information sharing
How to keep yourself safe

Managing autistic and neurodiverse patients - 1 hr

Gain awareness of the characteristics of neurodiversity, with a focus on autism, and the differing levels of support people may need
Understand the challenges which these patients experience when accessing dental care
Identify key considerations for improving access to dental care, including how to implement reasonable adjustments
Recognise and overcome barriers in communication

A - Effective communication with patients, the dental team and others across dentistry, including when obtaining consent, dealing with complaints, and raising concerns when patients are at risk
B- Effective management of self and effective management of others or effective work with others in the dental team, in the interests of patients; providing constructive leadership where appropriate
C - Maintenance and development of knowledge and skill within your field of practice
D - Maintenance of skills, behaviours and attitudes which maintain patient confidence in you and the dental profession and put patients’ interests first
